Learning Objectives

After studying this module, students should be able to recognize and define key terms and fundamental elements of:

  • Male and female reproductive anatomy and physiology;
  • Reproductive development, including puberty and menopause;
  • Pregnancy prevention;
  • Fetal growth and development;
  • Pregnancy, childbirth and lactation;
  • Methods available for abortion, including epidemiology, use, and risks of each method:
  • Epidemiology of maternal mortality, including causes of death, and treatment; and
  • Etiology, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.
